Process of Using a Black and White Photo to Make a Colorful Quilt

This is a picture of asphalt and concrete in a parking lot.

It was the basis for the wall hanging above.  I took the lines and shapes and translated them using color.

In keeping with the parking lot theme, I did a rubbing of the tread

of my tires and used that for the quilting design in the background.

I transferred the design to Solvy®, a water soluble stabilizer, and quilted over it.
